Well that all depends . . .

I hate taking surveys that are meant to be used in any serious way. Why? Most of them are so poorly done that the results are meaningless. I do recognize that this is view is largely an occupational hazard. Still how can I possible answer even a simple question like "How often do you consume fast food?" when my first thought is "well what do you mean by fast food?"
If you mean a chain with a drive through window where you order food through a speaker? Well then the answer is very seldom --mostly on long road trips with other people or when visiting my sister in Oklahoma. Now if I count local diners as fast food, the frequency goes up to once or twice a month. Should I count the cafeteria on campus? If so, it jumps again to 4-8 times per month.
Okay so moving on "How often do you spend time with friends?" Fast food is nothing compared to friends when it comes to lacking clarity.
Believe me if you are telemarketer or conducting public opinion surveys, you don't want me to try and answer. We will both end up with a headache.
