I would love to have a place for small appliances in the kitchen -- not just to store them but where they could be used. It seems that you could start with an entertainment or bedroom armoire with wood and finish that was able to stand up to moderate heat. You would need shelves with a small lip on heavy duty hardware that would allow the shelves to be pulled out for some uses and for cleaning (I know there are kitchen cabinet systems with this kind of hardware). Other than that you would need some vents for excess heat to escape and a way to manage the cords necessary.

It seems doable for someone with wood working skills to either create or retrofit something like this. It would be lovely to simply open the doors to use something like a toaster oven. I know some kitchens have cubbies for such things but mine does not. If I ever design a kitchen of my own it will have at least two such cubbies -- one for the coffee pot and toaster oven and one for the crockpots (yep that is plural I have and regularly use them both).

My dream kitchen would also have special shelves for glass storage containers of grains, beans, pastas, etc. though that might be open shelving because I think those jars are attractive

On a much smaller scale I need to find a combination of glass bottle and spray fitting to use for homemade veggie wash.

The use part is the key for me. I have industrial shelves but I still have to take them off, bring them over the counters, etc. My toaster, espresso machine, coffee maker, microwave/convection oven, stand mixer all have permanent places though.
