Jul. 4th, 2007 08:52 amThe day has started off quietly here at the tip of Lake Michigan. It rained last night and this morning is still damp and grey. I got up far earlier than necessary and have been puttering about with trip preps, organization, some minor purging and such. Well in regard to the last, I have mostly added more things to my list of things to do/think about/organize during my great August life tune-up.
I am trying to find some connection to Independence Day here in the U.S. but I am failing completely. I seem to lack a single patriotic bone in my body. I won't be spending the day with friends or family so can't get excited about it in that regard. *shrug* Maybe that is the real root of my discontent with the day; I wish did have plans for hanging out with friends this evening. Even the friendly local folks I know are currently out of town.
I am off to work the morning shift at the nature center and then home or the office to work on teaching stuff and the presentation for the upcoming conference. I am down to about 75 hours before I leave for the airport. There is still far too much to do so I guess it may be a good thing that I don't have plans.
