Talking back to the television screen

I can't imagine being part of a reality that is built on spin in the way that politics and entertainment are built on spin. Perhaps it is because I can't imagine selling any single version of reality with conviction. I don't believe there is a single reality. However, I will say that in my perception of reality the following seem to be are more real than alternative spins of the facts.
1) I don't see getting 56% of the votes cast as winning when you are the only one of the top three party candidates on the ballot. It still means nearly half of those voting preferred anyone but you.
2) It is hard to believe that 3% of the vote makes actually makes any candidate happy. Having your people say that you are pleased with that outcome lacks authenticity.
3) If you think that race and gender no longer matter in this country, there is a really good chance that you are a white man. (this is related to a commentator not a candidate)
4) While on national television, even jokingly, suggesting to your supporters that they let the air out their neighbors tires if they are not going to vote for you is probably not very savvy --if you don't believe that the media and the public can make mountains out of molehills just recall Iowa, Howard Dean and the Scream taken out of context.
5) All of the Republican candidates who have won a state so far frighten me. Each in different ways seems to promise that if elected they would strive for a world that I find troubling -- some more than others but all to some extent.
6) References to God, cute puppies, warm fuzziness and such have to seem at least a little sincere to be effective.
7) To all of the commentators and talking heads -- it IS NOT the end of the world if those of us who vote in primaries after Super Tuesday actually get to cast our votes before the nominations are all sewn up. Really the planet will keep rotating and gravity will continue to do what gravity does -- I certain of this. I am also fairly certain that the only heads that might explode are those of political commentators and political party leaders; the rest of us will be fine
.
I should also note that I tried to watch FOX news coverage out of a sort of morbid curiosity. That lasted about 30 seconds.
I also wached Lou Dobbs for the first time -- all I can say is hmmmmm.
