One of my colleagues commented that he knew he was coming down with some bug or another by the fact that he was ravenous. I can't say I have ever noticed that pattern when I am getting sick. For me the signs are an insatiable thirst, the fact that coffee suddenly tastes vile and hot tea is unusually appealing, and an often a craving for cinnamon raisin toast. Any one else care to share their signs of impending crud.

Many of the faculty on campus seem to be fighting off the various colds and such that are going around. Exposure to lots of people many of whom have children in public schools or day care + end of semester stress/lack of sleep + the tendency of many of us to get through stressful times and then get sick. So tomorrow faculty senate meets and we can share germs.

I am handing in a large number of Martha Stewart points by taking store bought goodies to the departmental holiday party tomorrow. I will only be able to pop in for about 15 minutes before heading to a committee meeting and then senate, I feel les than wonderful, and I have lots of grading still to do. Allo of that made baking seem very unappealing so store bought it shall be even if it isn't really my style. See I can occasionally make smart decisions.

today's birds so far )

Now I am off to make tea and cinnamon toast before plunging into the next round of grading.
