In a nutshell, I gained a few geek points, but lost some environmentalist and simple living points.

I believe that I must have been possessed by some strange force today; not sure if it was a ghost, demon, alien, or temporary insanity. The evidence: (A) I usually like the windows open and the shades letting in as much light as possible. I started this day my shutting all the windows, lowers and closing all the blinds. (B) I usually despise shopping. Today I shopped at 4 different stores while in Valpo for a doctor's appointment; this despite the fact that it was insanely busy in Valpo. Mostly I was looking for some tops, new comfortable but dressy enough shoes for teaching, and an electrical adapter for the trip. While in Best Buy to pick up some more memory cards for my camera (2GBs on sale for 19.99) I also bought an mp3 player after considering it off and on for well over a year. The new addition to my household is a one of these. I copied a few gigs of music to it. Now I just need to figure out how to add some audio books for the trip. Along with sound canceling ear phones it will make the flights much more pleasant. It will also give me a way to listen to music when I am working in my office. My computer there does not have a sound card and sometimes it is too quiet.

As for the doctors appointment, I can go back to taking Vitamin D at the level of 50,000 units a week. When I was doing that I felt much better. I had also lost 9 pounds in the last 5 weeks. Not that much but enough to avoid being hassled.

The weekend plans include spending tomorrow learning about botany and the identification and management of invasive species in day 3 of Master Naturalist Training. Sunday I plan a combination of work and housework.

The first of my tomatoes has started showing red.

I may need a really good cover story for a black eye. Sure I could tell the truth but that just makes me look stupid and uncoordinated. Here is hoping ice keeps me from looking too foolish. If not maybe I'll just blame it on the zombies.
