Jan. 28th, 2007 01:50 pmI did venture to Michigan City to meet J & D for the movie. I tried to call them and cancel about half way there but my cell phone isn't working. Once we met up at the theatre parking lot we opted to go grab lunch and visit but not risk being in the dark for 2 plus hours with conditions getting worse. I am safely back home and very glad we opted out of the movie; there is a 17 car parking lot working on the toll road in Michigan City among numerous other accidents. In the time we were having lunch over 2 inches of snow built up on my car windows. Chesterton, where I live, is east of the heaviest snow but they are talking about up to 14 inches in Michigan City. I have to say I am very impressed with my little town; local streets are in better shape than the state highway that runs through town or the interstate where traffic was below 30 miles an hour. It will be fun getting back to Michigan City in the morning to meet the sociology candidate for breakfast and to take her to campus.
Edited at 3:50 to add: I am very glad I am not driving home from Michigan City at the moment (which I would have been had we gone to the movie). We are getting the heaviest snow here that we have had this winter. At the moment I can see the house across the street between the new snow falling and the wind blowing that which fell earlier. Between snow squalls I did snap a few photos at Coffee Creek This is one of my favorite:
Quite a change from the summer when it looked like this at Phillips Pond (the location of both of these shots):
