A sudden uncomfortable feeling that is a mix of home sickness (except it is an ache for people who know me and whom I know well); a longing for beauty, spice, creativity, adventure; frustration (not sure what this is about); and a touch of loneliness has me trying to keep myself occupied so I am cleaning out my inboxes (well at least working on cleaning them out). Here are some quotes that I wanted to say from weekly emails from the yahoo group the best liberal quotes ever.

Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think. -- Margaret Cho

We become fully human when we are aware of another's suffering as if it were our own. -- D'vorah Kost

Nothing is more powerful than individuals acting out of their own conscience. -- Vaclav Havel

You might as well speak your mind and do what is in your heart because you never know what waits around the corner -- what unforeseen forces are headed your way. -- Arianna Huffington

Faith is not just something you have, it's something you do. -- Barack Obama

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. -- Rev. Jesse Jackson

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle. -- Philo of Alexandria

We are all much more alike than not, and we are all loved and welcome here, exactly as we are right now, despite all evidence to the contrary. -- Anne Lamott

"No sooner does the soul begin to unfold and experience in life the purpose, which is hidden within itself, than it begins to feel the joy of it. It begins to value the privilege of living. It begins to appreciate everything. It begins to marvel at everything. For in the every experience, good or bad, it finds a certain joy, and that joy is in the fulfillment of life’s purpose. That joy is not only experienced in pleasure, but even in pain, not only in success, but also in failures, not only in the cheerfulness of the heart, but even in the breaking of the heart there is a certain joy hidden. For there is no experience that is worthless. Especially for that soul, who is beginning to realize this purpose, there is no moment wasted in life. For under all circumstances and in all experiences that soul is experiencing the purpose of life."

~~Hazrat Inayat Khan
"The most beautiful and most profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms - this knowledge, this feeling is at the center of true religiousness."

~Albert Einstein~
"We are not evil. We don't harm or seduce people. We are not dangerous. We
are ordinary people like you. We have families, jobs, hopes, and dreams. We
are not a cult. This religion is not a joke. We are not what you think we
are from looking at T.V. We are real. We laugh, we cry. We are serious. We
have a sense of humor. You don't have to be afraid of us. We don't want to
convert you. And please don't try to convert us. Just give us the same
right we give you--to live in peace. We are much more similar to you than you

"Shifts in tastes and perception frequently accompany shifts in identity. One of the dearest signals that something healthy is afoot is the impulse to weed out, sort through and discard old clothes, papers, and belongings. By tossing out the old and unworkable, we make way for the new and suitable. When the search-and-discard impulse seizes you, two crosscurrents are at work: the old you is leaving and grieving, while the new you celebrates and grows strong."

from The Artists Way by Julia Cameron

For me the need to search and discard includes the need to purge emotions, habits, relationships and memories. The feeling that I have become an extra in my own life just can't be shaken; the question is have I become obsolete or has my life?
