It three different conversations over the past two days, students and colleagues have talked about how they are changing the way they live or preparing in case things get "really bad". This in response to the increase in gas and food prices, the uncertain economy, ongoing strife and warfare, etc. One is stockpiling canned food, one student is planting a garden, students have commented that they won't be taking summer classes because of fuel costs, etc. One of the staff people that I work with has turned their house back to the bank and moved into an apartment. Indiana has one of the highest foreclosure rates in the nation.

It made me wonder what changes/preparations others are making, if any. Does anyone care to share?

As for me, I am questioning much but not sure what actions to take.I have decided to plant primarily food items rather than ornamentals in my containers for summer.
