I am swamped and operating in list mode and can't come up with a single meaningful thing to say except that spring breaks starts in 59 hours. I wish I was planning a get away to someplace sunny, balmy, and exotic where I would spend a week engaged in sensual pleasures and exploring new places. I'm not -- I have a week of grading exams, catching up on class preps, and household chores planned but I am still looking forward to the 9 days without meetings or class meetings. I am dedicating the week to closing mental loops. Working hard next week when the weather stinks to get ahead will, hopefully, make it easier to enjoy spring once it arrives. I will have two days that are Red Cross training and hope to take one day to make a Michigan run to visit Fernwood and buy groceries.

For any bird lovers out there Audubon's Birds of America is now online.

There is something rather ironic about the fact that the statewide Tornado Drill scheduled for this morning had to be delayed by a couple of hours because of schools opening late due to winter weather.
Today's blessings

I saw my first Eastern Bluebird of the season on the way to campus
I had to stop for a herd of 15 (or more) deer to cross the road on my way to campus
The air holds the promise of spring
Music with lunch thanks to mp3s and an mp3 player.

Today's accomplishments:

Completed another FEMA training course
Wrote an exam
Distributed a take home exam
Conducted a statistics lab
Reduced the piles on my desk by enough that I can see over the top of them
Submitted my summer book order for Intro to Sociology
registered for the training boot camp being held next week at the local red cross
helped a grateful colleague with an abstract for a conference being organized by another colleague
