Common (formerly known as European) Starlings (they are being particularly obnoxious bullies this morning)
If you read this post, would you assume the author took the photo?

Other places I have found my photos:

Eating Well Guide.org (they asked permission)

here which I don't mind other than I am not sure they have it linked to the right bird

slide show of farm animals (again I don't mind)

here regarding Katrina relief operations (they clearly attribute the photo so don't mind)

not sure what this site is about

At one point Cornell Ornithology lab was using one of my photos which I found flattering.

I have also been asked for permission to use a couple of photos in a book on herbs.

I am going to leave a comment for the blog author. My aim for the comment is friendly, firm, and based on the assumption that the blog author did not mean to misrepresent the truth.

Here is what I am thinking for the comment:

"It is flattering that you chose to use one of my photos in your post. Normally I do not mind people linking to my photos or even using them in posts provided the attribution for the photo is clear. When you talk about being a photographer and then include a photo it could easily be misunderstood by readers who will assume the photo is your own work. I appreciate that you included the link to my flickr account but your post could still easily be misunderstood in a way that people would assume it was your flickr account. I would appreciate it if you would either clarify the ownership of the photo or remove it from the post. Thank you."

Random thoughts:

Destabee doesn't seem to fit me anymore. Desta is an Ethiopian Goddess of happiness and bee was because I used to buzz about and like to pet and stick my nose into flowers. I am considering an online identity change but not sure what my new identity should be.

I had my first friending request from a former student over on facebook where I keep a reasonably clean profile linked to my real name.

I wish I had someone local who could provide the kind of sounding board/coaching that [livejournal.com profile] flhypno provided when I lived in Orlando. I need to adjust a number of thought patterns and he was wonderful at helping with that process.

I am considering a new ritual in my weekly routine -- Indian food for lunch on Saturdays as a time to reflect on progress toward my 101 in 1001 list.

The house next to campus was rented only days before inquires were made about CR and me renting it. We are still considering becoming roommates this summer just not at that place. The owner is keeping us in mind in case the current tenants don't work out.

There is a new Wet Spots video (contents of lyrics are not work safe) which happens to be to one of my two favorite of their songs. Thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] radven for introducing me to The Wet Spots

Speaking of music, Peggy Seeger has an upcoming show in Goshen, Indiana.
